Despite not being the most comfortable sandal I own, it is very well made and acceptably comfortable for a $30 sandal. Because it is available in WIDE sizes, it is the best fitting covered-toe sandal I have ever had. But it does NOT have an adjustable heel strap, orthotic soft cushioned insole, or even a good arch. Because of its very sturdy build quality and stitching, thick high-rise sole, and covered-toe functionality, it is the sandal I wear most often outdoors (especially in rainy muddy weather). The comfort is identical to a very firm inexpensive tennis court shoe. They are OK for long walks but I begin to feel foot strain after several hours of continuous standing (see Details).Details:My exact shoe size is 8.5-EEE when wearing medium-thick socks. A size 8.5W sandal would have been ideal for me but half sizes are not available. The size 9W sandal fits very loose and long even if tightly laced (even while wearing socks). With bare feet, the size 8W is an EXACT fit when minimally laced and has a comfortable very slightly loose instep and provides an adequately positioned arch and heel pocket. I had ordered both sizes and decided to keep the 8W because it fit the best. I can wear the 8W sandal with socks but this results in a slightly tight instep which causes my heel to land a little over-extended to the rear of the heel pocket and this quickly becomes annoying (an adjustable heel strap would probably have prevented this foot displacement). The sandal is very easy to slip on/off by just slightly lowering the fixed heel strap. But when in its normal position, the heel strap is secure enough to keep the sandal on the foot. A Velcro adjustable heel strap would have been better and would permit a more customized foot/insole alignment. The back of the heel pocket edge is FLAT and rimless (see website product photos) which makes it easy to slide the sandal OFF but an UP-curved back-rim would have been better. An UP-curved heel pocket back-rim would be more comfortable, provide better posture while standing, and provide a more secure back-heel impact while running.Unfortunately the rubber insole is not cushiony or orthoticly molded and only has a very slight arch. It is a stiff platform and overall it feels like a very firm inexpensive tennis court shoe. I begin to feel foot strain after several hours of continuous standing but the sandal is OK for long walks.
